We had Brownies and Girl Scouts and Little League and Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Currently have 38 years as a Volunteer Firefighter/Safety Officer/EMT-CC/Dept Secy/Engine Co Secy/Engine Driver/AHA/BCLS/CPR Instructor/Junior Firefighter Advisor in my current fire dept which now totals up to 50 years of volunteer service, including previous other corps and departments.

We proudly marched each year in the Memorial Day Parade. Was a charter member of Laurelton Volunteer Ambulance Corps 1964-1969.

I lived in Laurelton from 1952 until 1965 when I married Larry Kuskin, a graduate of AJHS in 1960. Served in Vietnam 68-69 (101st Airborne Division and Bronze Star Recipient). Softball League, whom many of you guys payed ball in. "Life happens when you are busy making other plans." If anyone remembers me get in touch. I have fond memories of PS 156 and JHS 59, as well as actively participating in USY at the Laurelton Jewish Center, plus singing with Mr Buchanan and doing Gilbert & Sullivan. As I read about the reminiscences of others on this site: 132, 156, "squash" at the handball court, the LJC, Carmine's, Roma's garlic bread (God), the movie theater (which was an addiction on Saturdays, curiously nobody mentioned), the wonderland of Stanley's! Along with: Paul Weintraub, "Logi" Trepper, Barry Becker (a genius/peter pan who dressed as Batman, in his self-made costume and took 'competing' Robins out at night to roam alleys and garage rooftops), John Ploss, Mike Cohen, and others. My family moved to Laurelton in 1955 and I lived at 131-45 227 Street until I moved away in 1964. It would be nice to hear from some of my old friends and see what road they traveled in life. On our street we had Barbara and Robert Malkin, Neal Dreznin, David Kaback, David Scher, my family (Reba, Jay and Hope Harris) and more.

My neighbors were Linda Disimone, Michael Fierstein, Ronny Sasofsky, Mitchell Karlin, Arthur and Carol Mack, Andrea Wolpe, Elyse Goldstein - boy so many memories. Lived in Laurelton with my family and brother Martin (on the corner of 232nd St. Attended PS 156, JHS 59 and graduated AJHS in 1963. I still have the 4th grade picture and remember everyone in the class. Who could forget being able to walk to and from school, the movies, the library (and Miss Rand's storytelling), Colony cards, Carmine's, the kosher deli where we had Mrs. I attended Andrew Jackson HS from Sept 1962 to June 1965. I have three younger brothers Richard, Louis and Harry. My friend Jessica lived around the corner from me on 139th Street if I am correct. He attended the University of Illinois and studied to be a veterinarian (animal Doctor). The school I work in was built in '29 and is an exact duplicate of Jackson. Mike Nussbaum and I went with the dumb kids to PS 147 and then we all met up again in Jackson. lol My vocation and avocation is beautiful dentistry (so much for being a dumb kid). I still recall some of my PS 132 classmates' names: Glenn Kessler, Maury Rice, Susan Grant, Alan Dorn, Melanie Gissen, Saundra Rothlein, Eileen Drosin, Ilene Aronson, Andrea Brautman, Enid Baran, Bonnie Wolpe. Rindner's Girl Scout Troop that met at a church on 130th(? I lived in Laurelton from, I think 1955 to 1971, and went to PS 156, JHS 59 and Springfield High. I own a Management Consulting firm based on Transformative Learning principles and ontological coaching. We're all graduates of this "sickness" called Laurelton - at least that's what my wife calls it. Just because I have an Illinois vanity license plate which says "Laurelton" and still maintain Laurelton friends? Some of my best years, memories and friends start from the time I moved to Laurelton as an incoming freshman at AJHS. Several Laurelton and AJHS reunions over the years (in NY and Fla.), have kept the flame burning as I catch up with old friends and memories. At JHS 59 my friends were Rita Simon, Ronnie Kanner, Linda Lee, Naomi Becker, Susan Bayliss and Raymond Wong.

I am a dentist and I have 2 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren. I have been married for 45 years to my wife, Carole. I lived on 228th Street until 1969 when I married and moved to New Jersey. I've reconnected with two Laurelton friends right here in Wellington. I went to the Junior High on Springfield Blvd, I think the number is 59, for the 9th grade. Some of the people I knew ( can't remember some last names ) were Yvette, Wilma, Eileen Arshansky, Lynette Brown, Marcia or Marsha Eisenberg (from Rosedale). I was also friends with a guy named Howard Levine who lived on the same street as me. I went to PS 176 and then the school system divided kids into the dumb ones and the smart ones. I am looking for pictures and friends from Laurelton and Rosedale from 1956 - 1971. I also worked for a Hardware Store from 1965 to 1969 on Saturdays. Not many Laurelton folks will remember me, as I did not attend local schools for grades 7-12. Would love to hear from the old LYAG/ATID crowd from LJC in late '60s. Living in Wheeling, IL - a Chicago suburb 1960 AJHS graduate. As anyone posting at this wonderful site knows, Laurelton will be in our hearts forever. I'm Ronnie and this website has brought back many memories. At lunchtime the girls played records in the cafeteria and we'd dance to the tunes of the 60's as the guys would play ping pong and pool and who would steal glances at us while we danced. It would have been nice if the "block busters" had not raped Laurelton and some of our friends and families still lived there. I've been living in California more than half my life, now, but I'm still a Yankee fan and a lover of NY pizza. I've lived in Israel for the last 35 years and have been a "Lubavitcher" (Chabad) for the past 23, and have a big, beautiful family of kids and grandkids. Some of us went to PS 132-- and we were part of the first graduating class of JHS 59! Marvin Merein, I was in your class - Laurelton Elementary School! I lived there until I married a Valley Stream girl in 1971. After graduation in 1968 I served in the Navy and went on to college. I work for the Justice Department in Washington, DC and hope to retire in the next few years. Would love to hear from former SING-sters, or others who remember. There are a lot of great memories associated with growing up in Laurelton. Some of the friends I remember were Stuart Fishman, Edith Edelstein, Anita Bernheimer, Elayne Gross, Susan Dankner, Donald French, Trudi Sturm (who I just reconnected with and who is refreshing my memory about lots of fun times)and lots of kids from Springfield Gardens, Rosedale and Cambria Heights as well. Those of you who remember me and would like to touch base please do. I was just searching for a name, and stumbled on this site. Everyone thought they were cool at that stage of their lives. I seem to remember it all as Nirvana........could that possibly be true? We are fortunate to live near our two grandsons and get to spend a lot of time with them. I remember all the teachers being mentioned by others (Herb Magidson, director of The Man Who Came to Dinner, which I stage managed really inspired me to do the theater thing as I'm currently a local stage director and actor and have worked on almost 100 shows in the last 20 years). I remember playing stickball in the streets, stealing pretzels from Schultz's candy store, buying a stickball bat for 29 cents and many other very fond memories of growing up in a great/fun neighborhood. Still screwed up but breathing fresh air with clean water in the White Mountains. There's even talk of a meet-up here in Italy next year. Nice to revisit some of the old places and names from the past. The memorties are good and after 30 years traveling around the world, PS 156 was a great place to get started. I used to live at 135-59 232 St., next door to Carl Perkal, who I see is listed on the website. We lived in Commack, Long Island before retiring to Florida.
